The Crane And The Crab: Once upon a time there was a village named Kantipur. There was a lake in Kantipur. In that Lake, there are many aquatic organisms. They live together and maintained a healthy friendship with each other. They live their life happily. There also lived a crane on the bank of the lake.

The main food of cranes was aquatic organisms. So he caught small fish, crabs, etc. It is a normal food-eating relationship but that normal phenomenon was harmful to all aquatic organisms. So they were afraid of the crane.

The time flies and the crane became old. As he became older, his efficiency of hunting becomes low day by day and his eyesight became weak, he also could not fly properly long distances. thus he could not arrange is required food for his daily diet.

Due to the disability of the crane, the fish and crane don’t get afraid of him. They enjoyed the crane’s situation and make fun with this.

As he became unable to get food, the crane became very weak. So he thought that he had to plan any other way as he can get enough food sources. So he pretended in such a way to the aquatic organisms can understand that he is very sorry and became weak too and tried to make a friendship with them.

so according to his plan, one day he sat down near the lake under a tree and pretend in such a way that he was very upset. To see him in such an upset way the aquatic organisms thought that he is very upset and his last time had been begun.

So they also feel sorry for him and tried to make him happy, hence they tried to make a friendship with him. So one day a fish told him why he was upset. Then the crane replied that he is very sad because he listen to some serious news from the conversation of the villagers of Kantipur.

The villagers meet an astrologer who came into their village and The Astrologer predicts that a drought is coming in nearest future in this village. The soil and the all water sources of this village will be dry very soon. Even it can happen in the coming summer.

The crane also told that if the water level becomes dry in this lake then how he will live without food and how his other friends will live without water. To listen to this news the fish became very scared and went down to the deep river and spread that news to all his friends in the lake.

To listen to that formidable prediction every aquatic of that lake became worried. So arrange a meeting there.

In the meeting, they decided to take help from someone who can make an alternate plan to save them from this natural disaster. So they decided that they will take help from the crane.

They also discussed that crane was their enemy earlier but after becoming older the crane changed his behavior and now he became their friend also as he is more experienced than others so he must be wise and must have a super knowledge of how to overcome any tough situation.

So after taking a combined decision they came to the crane and requested him to make a plan so they can service from that disaster.

Then the crane told that he knows another lake which is situated beside the village. The water level of that lake is also high and that depth is deeper than this lake. The crane also asked that they had to shift from this Lake to another lake. Only this idea can help them to survive in this critical situation.

The aquatic organisms were very happy to listen to his plan but similarly, they were worried too as they can not fly and if they start to migrate from this Lake to another then it will be a time tracking process and it can be the cause of their death too as many peril or attack may appear in the migratory period. So they could not understand how they execute this plan.

Then the crane told him that he can help them to shift their location to that lake but it is quite difficult to shift them together as he is no longer a flight expert even though he couldn’t fly long distances at a time.

So he will save them one by one each day as he can carry only one organism daily on the top of his back. Everyone agreed to his proposal.

According to their plan, the crane carries an aquatic organism mainly fish on daily basis and each day the crane killed that organism and consumes it as his food.

Thus the crane spent his day happily as he can easily consume one organism without any effort. He got delicious food every day. after a few days, the crane feel that eating one type of food daily create boredom in his test bud.

so he decided that in next morning he will carry the crab instead of a fish. So he told his proposal to the crab and the crab easily agreed with his proposal.

Hence he started their journey through the sky but after some time, in the middle portion of their journey, the crab noticed that there are a lot of skulls of fishes spread here and there. The crab was very clever he understand everything.

Though he understand everything, he asked the crane about the history of the skull and keep himself aware of the crane. Then the crane replied with a smile that his history will the same that day and he again told that he would be eaten by him.

The crane also smiled and attacked his neck with the help of his claws to kill the crane. Thus the crab can save himself from that devil crane.

The moral of the story:- You should choose your friend very wisely.
